I left the truck parking area of the Stagecoach Casino of Beatty at 11:30 central time with the TA truck stop in South Las Vegas on my mind for a refuel and shower.
Man oh man did that spray feel great on this old dirty body.
It was a quick stop, no dallying around to drop a coin in any machine at either Beatty or Las Vegas.
I then proceeded to make my way to a truck stop to get a 34-hour restart before loading my next adventurous load.
The running today was more to my liking at no more than 67 or 68 Mph. The only stupidity was one 4 wheeler entering a portion of I-15 that instead of matching my speed ahead of me to merge, stayed at my side near the cab of the Lil blue mule with another vehicle passing me just slightly faster than I so I had no way to give room to the 4 wheeler. Instead of it slowing to fall in behind me it's stayed by my side until it ran out of the ramp and real estate before coming almost to a complete stop. All I could think is this person has no clue how to properly operate while in the vicinity of a semi-truck.
The Vegas road engineers have also made a bad directional instruction error in as I left the TA, there was only a sign on how to get to I-15 and not giving advance notice of I-215 connecting at the same interchange in the far left lanes. I wanted I-215, that at one time you had to take I-15 north then take an exit for I-215.
I ended up having to remain on I-15 north for maybe 3 miles before finding an exit to turn back south to regain I-215 off of I-15 going south.
Of course, then I had to dodge a slow-moving Swift truck that could not seem to maintain the speed limit of 65 Mph or at least within 10 mph of it.
As I approached Rail Road Pass, another tractor bobbled into, and back out of an exit lane just ahead of me, slowing as he did so, which force me to overtake it by moving one more lane to the left.
That one took the very next exit but noticing the driver wearing a turban and sporting a beard as I passed was all the explanation of that driver's actions.
Our industry has erupted over the last 15 years with a very large number of east European persons entering the industry, but having limited English skills to guide them in navigating our roads, and having sometimes very different attitudes from ours.
I would surmise that in the past two weeks I have passed numerous individuals such as he that took forever to gain speed when entering the highway from an on-ramp as well as making the same erratic moves as the above-mentioned driver.
Well, I am parked where I shall remain until Sunday morning/afternoon, so I shall close this rambling adventure until I once again regain the road then. less
